key competencies

•  B.S. and 3 years of practical mechanical product design.
• Experience with one of the following 3D CAD tools: Unigraphics UG, Solidworks, ProEngineer, etc.
• Demonstrated understanding of DOE, GDandT, SPC or CP/CPK techniques.
• Experience in design for manufacturability (DFM), design for assembly (DFA), statistical tolerance analysis techniques, functional dimensioning and geometric tolerancing.
• Experience designing precision parts and components
• . Assembly experience is beneficial.
• Work experience in the field of consumer electronics is beneficial.
• Otherwise, experience with medical devices, automotive parts, injection molding, jigs/tools/fixtures, consumables or other  tight tolerance parts.
•  Basic knowledge of PCB/flex design, materials science and  chemistry is  a plus but not necessary.
• Ability to communicate effectively with cross-functional team members and  collaborate effectively to achieve project goals.

Description

•  Brainstorm and apply mechanical design concepts to all stages of the development cycle.
•  Create innovative designs considering SPC and DFM.
•  Preparation of dimension and tolerance analyses.
•  Conduct design reviews and manage the file release process.
• Assist in the development of production processes and inventory; travel from suppliers to  support.
•  Design validation and characterization from prototype to MP testing.
•  Failure Analysis and Design of Experiments (DOE) to develop design solutions and implement corrective actions.
