Full Job Description:

We are looking for a Design Manager to deliver impressive results and disrupt the content creation space. You will hire and grow a team of software engineers in Warsaw to develop and implement technology that enables  efficient processing and delivery of media resources. To do this, you will need to collaborate with Netflix engineering teams and work closely with X functional partners (Product Managers, Product Managers, Designers) across geographies and time zones.

This role is based in Warsaw and our teams work in a hybrid working model.

 What you do:

•  Demonstrate consistent curiosity about the studio’s media management workflows and advance the studio’s broader strategies and goals.
• Position yourself as a thought leader with stakeholders and create trusted partnerships
•  Act as a trusted technical advisor to the team
•  Understand the trade-offs and balance between critical business needs and strong design principles
•  Make thoughtful decisions in complex and ambiguous situations
•  Conscious Risk – Make strategic bets while driving tactical execution
•  Foster an inclusive and effective environment where every member feels valued, reflected and welcomed
•  Set a high bar for recruitment and retention and  mentor, train and grow a diverse team of software engineers
•  Be a strong cultural role model and lead by example according to our principles of Inclusion, Freedom and Responsibility, Conscious Mastery and Contextual Management

 Qualifications:

•  At least 5 years of experience  building and leading diverse software engineering teams
•  Experience  maximizing team impact while supporting employee growth
•  Experience in developing high standard business applications
•  Resilience and  ability to balance competing priorities among multiple functional stakeholders and programs
•  Strong understanding of distributed media systems and architecture
•  Strong product thinking
•  Experience managing large complex projects across multiple independent design teams through the  joy of influencing and encompassing
•  Ability to give and receive honest feedback in a variety of situations
•  Balance context and direction of travel
•  The experience of  senior engineers grows deep in their careers to increase their impact
•  Passion for communication – with  team, stakeholders, partners and management, especially globally
