Full Job Description:
This role offers you the opportunity to join a team dedicated to changing and redefining entertainment and how it can be enjoyed through Netflix. With continued investment in our content portfolio, including original productions, content licensing and international expansion, it’s a great time to join Netflix.
The qualities we look for
- Accounting basics – We expect you to have 5 years of experience in accounting and a bachelor’s degree in accounting and/or finance; Although not required, completion of (or having already completed) a CPA license or graduate degree is recommended.
- Attention to detail, love of data and automation – we pride ourselves on quality work, checking key numbers and formulas for accuracy and using spreadsheets and system data to reconcile accounts and resolve issues. We want our accountants to love Excel pivot tables and struggle with large data sets.
- A passion for making processes more efficient through automation is a plus.
- Enthusiasm and quick learning – Enthusiasm for designing and building new accounting systems and improving existing systems. Previous experience reviewing employment contracts (income, leases or other complex documents), data entry and analysis, research and other problem solving is a plus, but we understand that you probably haven’t done content accounting.
- That’s fine with us because we teach you until you’re excited to learn.
- Curiosity and passion – our team members ask probing questions, challenge the status quo, make changes to improve processes and have fun doing it all. A positive attitude and never settling for “good enough” is key, as is adapting to our unique company culture. You have strong communication skills (both written and verbal) and are considered a strong multidisciplinary business partner. You must also have a strong accounting background and be well versed in technical accounting guidelines.
- Work inclusively – Work with team members and acknowledge, understand and value differences and overcome those differences by adapting to each other.
- Industry experience in a studio, music environment or consumer products is a plus, but not required for the position if you are passionate about the position, have a strong accounting background and are a quick learner.
- Adaptable – You must be comfortable with constantly changing content, financial and accounting issues and projects.
- You have embraced and supported Netflix’s culture and our long-term vision.
