DESCRIPTION:
Wayfair is looking for an Internal Auditor to join us! This is a completely new role for Wayfair and will be a member of the wider Financial Group accounts team. This rapidly expanding position offers the opportunity to advance your career in a growing public company and is a dynamic and collaborative role that offers exposure to a wide range of business areas. This senior internal auditor focuses on finance-related activities.
The Internal Audit team conducts risk-based financial and operational audits, tests SOX controls and leads special projects and investigations as per the team’s plan. Reporting to the Head of Internal Audit, the Senior Internal Auditor is responsible for conducting risk-based audits and participates in SOX compliance activities in accordance with the annual audit plan. Members of this team work closely with many other teams and departments and this role requires an individual with strong stakeholder management and deep technical knowledge of the internal control environment. Career development includes expanding the role to become part of the team developing Wayfair’s new internal audit function. What you do:
- Participate in the planning and execution of internal audit tasks and internal control (SOX) testing procedures
- Conduct interviews and presentations; document processes and related controls using flowcharts and reports
- Continually assesses, evaluates and monitors the design and effectiveness of internal controls in all areas of the organization
- Work with process and control stakeholders to review documentation on key controls, processes and systems
- Ensure that appropriate audit evidence is maintained, including reports, process flow charts, control descriptions and risk management matrices to ensure that the control findings are well documented.
- Prepare written reports and oral presentations to communicate the results of audit and consulting projects to management
- Follow up with process owners to resolve audit findings and gaps identified during internal and external audits to ensure mitigations progress as planned.
- Evaluate and design Wayfair’s internal financial reporting controls as new systems are developed and/or processes are modified.
What you need:
- Bachelor’s degree (preferably in accounting, finance, business administration, accounting information systems or related fields). 3 years of audit experience, preferably in a fast-paced corporate public business environment.
- Knowledge of audit methods, Sarbanes-Oxley Act, IIA standards and enterprise risk methods.
- Strong management reporting and communication skills to present fact-based audit findings, reasoned insights and actionable recommendations.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial and ambiguous environment where strong project management skills and the ability to juggle multiple priorities are essential. Ability to quickly assess a high-level situation/process, identify potential problems and recommend real “business” solutions.
- Proven understanding of project and program management and implementation with a focus on identifying and managing operational risks. determination to independently develop ideas and succeed in a fast-paced startup environment.
Other preferred skills/qualifications (but not required)
- Relevant accounting and/or auditing certification, including CPA, CIA, CISA and/or PMP.
- Experience auditing SAP and/or similar ERP systems.
