Our GraphQL Platforms team builds one of the core data platforms that all of Wayfair uses to power their user interface, and we do it using cutting-edge technology. While the move to GraphQL is still new for Wayfair, the federated ecosystem already handles more than 10 billion requests per month. Wayfair’s GraphQL team has been invited to conferences and community events, and has influenced the direction of the broader linked GraphQL specification. By taking on this role, you will have the opportunity to take this system implementation to the next level and teach others how to maintain incredibly efficient, stable and scalable systems. What you will do:
- Lead product development, strategy and roadmap for Wayfair’s GraphQL platform
- Create a long-term vision for technical changes that span Wayfair
- Communicate your product internally so that the organization understands your vision and how it will help achieve its goals
- Create leadership acceptance through transparency by translating technical and domain-specific language into communication for broad and senior audiences
- Lead complex initiatives spanning multiple product and business areas, ensuring coordination and full understanding to achieve the right outcome for Wayfair.
- Keep your team healthy and engaged by collaborating with leaders to streamline processes, build trust and celebrate wins.

What you need:
- 7 years of experience in software product management with a focus on data-driven product discovery. Experience with technical products and leading cross-organizational initiatives. You have mastered platforms and can identify common features that meet specific customer needs, turning ideas into a vision and roadmap of what the platform can become.
- You will collaborate effectively with your engineers to change the architecture and stay abreast of highly technical discussions
- Experience and/or interest in managing product development platforms and working with a customer base of primarily internal teams
- Experience operating at scale (very high developer and web traffic)
- Understand quality and performance issues (latency, scalability, availability, flame diagrams)
- Strong communication skills; able to explain complex technical concepts to a non-technical audience, and also comfortable conversing with engineers. Knowledge of connected GraphQL (keywords, GraphQL, union, Apollo, gateway, router, schema registry, operation registry)
- Experience in moving to a service architecture
- Familiarity with the OKR planning model and setting measurable objectives (KPIs) for development platforms
